I have always sought the comic, but at the same time also felt that I had to be a certain way and could not let my funny side live freely. For me, it has been a personal journey to get to know the many layers of the clown and learn to use the comic as a strength in my daily life and to release sides of myself. It's okay to fail and it can also be fun to fail.

I love the simplicity of the clown. The naive and childlike universe where you can make mistakes and laugh at mistakes. Both one's own but also other people's mistakes. The clown has a great deal of freedom, as it can be played in a universe without words and it is the body and facial expressions that speak. It is hard work to learn clowning as an art form, but the payoff of being able to release your inner child and express yourself through mistakes, mimicry and humor is huge.

I find clowing so liberating for oneself and the audience, because as a clown you are just allowed to follow your impulses to do and express whatever you want. In everyday life there is so much conditioning and ideas how to be. We are supposed to archive and do good, we have to compete and can not fail. And if so, we should not show it. Failure, rejection and making mistakes- vulnerability is not acknowledged as part of life, part of learning, but shamefully hidden. As a clown we get to express all of this - and more - in a artistic, playful and innocent way.
