Dear Ole,
A criticism about our play (Gogol Stories) has been published in a popular, very well-known theatre magazine (named ‘Tiyatro… Tiyatro…’) this month. It is written by Robert Schild – a very well-known critic.
As a summary, he has written that ‘our play is the master-piece of the theatre season, it is perfectly dynamic, excellently interpreted and it should be seen as a theatre example’.
He has quoted from Stanislavski and Sonia Moore (who wrote a book called ‘Stanislavski System’) to state how we make visible the dramaturgical essence of the stories by our physicality and actions.
He also has written about you as our teacher and supervisor of the play
This encouraging criticism has made us very happy and we wanted to share this happiness with you.
Thank you again (for the thousandth time:)) since you gave us the opportunity to be the student at the Commedia School.
By the way, we have made a new clown performance with our three friends. We had three shows so far. It’s going very well. We also want to apply international clown festivals. If you have any recommendation, please let us know. Here is the promotion video of it – longer version. (the password is: istanbul)

All former students of The Commedia School are invited to acrobatics classes every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30AM to 10:30 AM. Come in, have some fun, meet old friends, find new partners, have a good workout, tune up the skills, inspire the new students, and share stories. Director of The Commedia School, Ole Brekke, returned from giving a one week workshop in Mombasa, Kenya to a group of enthusiastic youth who are working as teachers in a peer to peer education program on the subjects of HIV/AIDS prevention, early child marriages, religious intolerance, drugs and other issues in the slum quarter of Likoni. The group of AMURT YOUTH wanted training on using Theatre in Education to help raise awareness among their peers. This was a pilot project and we are trying to get funding for a team of graduates to go there and train many youth groups.
We are trying to raise $25000 (DKK 150000) to do this service for Kenyan youth. Any amount of money will help, so if anyone reading this has a wealthy relative we will welcome any donations.

14 Nations Meet at The Commedia School in Copenhagen
Since 1983 international theatre students have been meeting at The commedia School in Copenhagen. This year aspiring professional actors come from East, West, South and North – Nepal, Turkey, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, USA, Albania, Burkina Faso, India, Sweden, Finland, England, and Denmark. After completing the two-year study, they return to their homelands with a network of contacts worldwide giving them opportunities for a truly international career in the performing arts.
At the school, the students study with an array of international theatre artists currently from Denmark, Poland, Brazil, USA, U.K., and Germany. Under such a diverse teaching staff, the students develop qualities that transcend borders giving them skills to touch the common human experience. Performers educated at The Commedia School can be found touring all continents.
The main goal of the school is to develop the creative performer. Having spent two years at the school creating performing material each week, they are capable of creating their own shows and are not dependent on only auditions to give them jobs. They can and do create and produce their own shows often selling them through their international network. Graduates have been in the forefront of developing entirely new areas of work for performers such as performing waiters, and creating events. Successful careers have been established working in all areas of the business – private theatres, state theatres, film, TV, circus, management, the streets, as well as teaching in state theatre schools, public schools, folk high schools, public institutions, and private businesses.
The first public performance of this school year was in the school’s studio in Østerbro on the 18th of November 2011, a show created by the second year students in the much-maligned genre, Melodrama, brought laughter, gasps, and tears to the public.
